Kiln upgrade: Capacity increase of a rotary kiln for producing clinker from 800 to 2200 tonnes per day
Location: Sharjah Cement Factory, United Arab Emirates
Scope of supplies:
- New raw material transport and new metering system
- New 5-stage preheater with calciner
- Reduction of the length of the kiln from 159 m to 51 m
- New installation of a tertiary air duct
- New clinker cooler with dedusting filter
- New clinker transport units
- New electrics and automation system
Timing framework: total of 16 months (incl. technical clarification)
Production stoppage: 10 weeks
As general contractor, Intercem supplied the entire engineering required as well as all mechanical and electrical equipment on a turnkey basis. The project was successfully completed in the agreed timeframe and as a result of customer satisfaction, Intercem was awarded the contract to supply a new raw mill - which was also planned, built and handed over on schedule and to the customer’s complete satisfaction.
