Silo transport (4,8 m x 12 m)

As part of the Intercem/Transorga contract for Spenner Zement in Erwitte a silo for the granulated blastfurnace slag grinding plant was transported last week from DiMatteo, the subsupplier, in Beckum to Erwitte in an impressive heavy haulage operation. Two cranes were needed to handle the silo with a diameter of 4.80 m and a length of 12 m. These loaded the granulated blastfurnace slag silo weighing 28 tonnes on to the heavy transport which trundled towards Erwitte during the night.

The silo will be used there as part of the conversion of the central-discharge mill with drying chamber for raw meal to a two-chamber mill with end discharge for grinding granulated blastfurnace slag. On the following day it was fitted accurately into the structural steelwork and installed by the staff of Intercem Installation.

The contract will be implemented and completed by the end of the year.
